Steven Staples

Steven Staples is President of the Rideau Institute,[1] an independent research, consulting and advocacy group located in Ottawa, Canada.[2]

Biography

In the past 15 years he has been involved with numerous organizations that promote peace, and he is well known for his work in international defence, disarmament and trade issues. He has acted as the Director of Security Programs for the Polaris Institute, Issue Campaigns Coordinator for the Council of Canadians and the Coordinator for End the Arms Race.[3]

Along with Peter Coombes, he is the founder of Ceasefire Canada which acts as the public outreach and advocacy arm of the Rideau Institute.[4] Steven Staples is also a member of the Canadian Pugwash Group, the Group of 78 and he currently acts as the Secretariat of the international network of anti-nuclear groups, Abolition 2000.
